Windshield Repair

A windshield has twice layers of glass and a special resin between the layers giving them strength. In the event of an accident the purpose of the resin is to hold everything in place keeping the people inside the vehicle safe.

A damaged windshield does not always need to be replaced if it has a chip or a crack you are often able to repair it instead of replacing it. If you do wish to repair it you will want to take care of the damage quickly as it can spread and become unrepairable. There are four conditions that must be in order to repair a windshield.

The first is the damage is taken care of quickly so that no dirt or moisture gets into the chip or crack. If this happens it can lead to a poor repair. The second thing is the repair can only be done if the damage is on the outer surface of the windshield or no more than 5mm. Third any lines that come from the point of impact can not be longer than 5 centimetres or make contact with the edge of the windshield. The final thing is the repair cannot be in the drivers field of vision. For more information about windshield repair and to get a quote please visit our website.
