Different Types of Windshield Cracks

Have you ever been driving down the highway, only to realize you've now got a crack in your windshield from just a small rock? No matter how small the crack is, it has the potential to spread across your entire windshield if not cared for immediately. There are several different types of windshield cracks that can occur.

Bulls-Eye Crack

The bulls-eye crack is named after the bulls-eye that is found on a dartboard. Appearing as a circular crack, the area of impact is noticeably visible. Leaving a bulls-eye crack on your windshield can become troublesome as it will allow dirt and oils to continually spread. Over a period of time, the crack will expand, making the crack more difficult to repair.

Star

The star crack is also named after it's noticeable star liked shape. These types of cracks are known to become difficult to handle if not the repair is delayed. Star cracks can appear very small at first. If the repair of a star crack is postponed, the crack is likely to spread with long streaks across the glass. To prevent further troubles, repair your star crack immediately.

Chip

Chips often occur when small debris is flung into the windshield. Leaving a small indentation, chips appear to be small and minor. Don't be fooled by the size of the chip as it can quickly spread with long streaks across your windshield if the repair is postponed.
