There
are many different types of windshield cracks or chips here is four
of those types.
The
bulls-eye is a chip that looks similar to a dartboard. It is round
and will have many small circles around the central impact point.
This is an easy fix as long as it is fixed early. If not the crack
can fill with lots of dirt and other small particles making the fix a
lot more difficult and cost more.
The
half moon chip is very similar to a bulls-eye it is just half of it.
It is caused by a direct hit from an object. It is easier to repair
than a bulls-eye and will not get as dirty. The chance of a large
crack developing from a half moon is very small.
A
star crack is when an object hits the windshield and leaves a central
mark with little cracks running of it from all sides. This cracks
can be a problem as they often will lead to large cracks all across
your windshield. It is very important to have this type of crack
fixed right away.
A
combination crack is when there is both a star crack and bulls-eye
chip. This is something that can be difficult to fix and can become a
big issue if not looked at right away. Even with the current
technology repairing these types of cracks can sometime be less
effect.
